Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Ep 5 REVIEW: Black

Well, the movie episodes are finally done with! How was your experiences of watching this episode? I know how mine was: 85% of the episode’s dialogue was drowned out by my Mom’s blender.

After defeating the demons, Tanjiro finds that, along with three other people, he has passed through all 7 days of the Final Selection. The exam is over, and the ones who have passed have to pick their ores in order to make their swords, which will take about 15 days, or 2 weeks. After getting frustrated, only concerned with getting a sword, one of the people who passed attacks the examiners, which Tanjiro stops him after threatening to break his arm.

Yamcha pose.

After coming home, Tanjiro comes back to see Nezuko up and about, awake after her two-year slumber, seeing her brother, and hugging him. Urokodaki greets him, telling him that Nezuko regains her strength by sleeping for long periods of time, and not by consuming humans. Tanjiro breaks down, happy to see his sister awake.

Two weeks later, Tanjiro receives his sword, which is colored black, and receives his first mission as a Demon Hunter: Find the missing girls in a nearby town.

This was a cooldown episode, more than anything else. Not the best, but it established three other characters from the Final Selection. Kind of wish that we got to see their abilities in the exam, but judging from the Opening, we know what one of their abilities are.

Also, now we’re getting into our first major arc, which Tanjiro will go on an actual mission. Can’t wait to see what happens next week.
